Rivers United goalkeeper Victor Sochima and forward Albert Korvah are full of confidence ahead of their CAF Confederation Cup second leg preliminary round game against Etoile de Filante in Port Harcourt on Sunday.

The 2022 NPFL champions recorded a goalless draw in the first leg in Ivory Coast two weeks ago and must beat the Burkina Faso side on their return to the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium to avoid being knocked out of the competition.

Rivers are supposed to begin their 2023/24 NPFL campaign against Remo Stars on Saturday, but the game has been postponed to allow them concentrate on the continental assignment.

“We are all in high spirits, ready to go, we are prepared and we have put in the shift to execute our game plan perfectly. We got a draw there but that’s not the end. It’s going to be a different ball game here, so we do everything to win.

“The fans are passionate and they believe in us. They have tasted what it means to be champions and they want us to win and I think we are capable of giving them that result,” Sochima said.

“We are doing everything possible to become victorious. We are not under pressure, we played in this competition last season and reached the quarter-finals, so this is something we are working harder to see what more we can do,” Liberian forward Korvah added.
