Following his recent move to Italian Serie A giants AC Milan, a Spanish football writer, Jamie Kemble, has backed Samuel Chukwueze to shine at the San Siro Stadium.
Milan completed the signing of Chukwueze from Villarreal on a five-year deal worth €28m including add-ons last week as the Nigerian became Stefano Pioli’ seventh summer acquisition ahead of the new season.
The 24-year-old who scored 13 goals and 11 assists in all competitions last season for the Yellow Submarine has been touted to form a dangerous two-flanked attack along with Rafael Leao for Milan next season.
Speaking to Sempermilan, Kembe, who writes for a Villarreal based news outlet, gave Milan fans an insight of what to expect from the Nigerian forward.
“Pace, agility and ball control. Samu (Chukwueze) is one of the quickest players in the game, both on and off the ball. He is ridiculously skillful on the ball, able to turn rivals inside out, and the ball seems to stick to his foot,” Kembe said.
“Samu (Chukwueze) is an out-and-out attacker, and if given freedom to do that, he will cause all sorts of damage, especially if you can keep his confidence high.
“You guys will know Leao better than me, but as for Samu, and having seen Leao in action, that’s a really dangerous front-line.”
Having teamed up with the Rossoneri, the club will face Barcelona in their final pre-season game in California on August 1, while he will hope to make his Serie A debut against Bologna when they kick off their campaign on August 21.
The Nigerian will set up a potentially big clash against Napoli forward and his former Nigeria U-17 teammate, Victor Osimhen – whom he named as the major influencer of his move to Italy – when AC Milan face the champions on October 29.
AC Milan finished the 2022/23 season in fourth with 7 points and have a place in next season’s UEFA Champions League.
The 24-year-old came through the Diamond Football Academy in Nigeria before moving to Villarreal in 2017. He made his debut with the senior team in September 2018, going on to feature 207 times, scoring 37 goals, and winning one Europa League title in 2021.
He has also been capped 28 times for Nigeria and scored four goals.
