Chelsea are reportedly one of the clubs in the picture to sign Gent star Gift Orban in the summer.
The striker has starred for the Jupiler Pro League side this season, with 19 goals and two assists from 19 games. He netted a hat-trick in his side’s latest 4-0 win over Cercle Brugge last weekend.
Chelsea’s interest in the 20-year-old is highlighted by Het Nieuwsblad, when they cover clubs who had scouts in attendance to watch him in action against Cercle Brugge.
The Blues have good contacts with the player’s agent, according to the report. They also represent David Datro Fofana, who joined Chelsea from Molde in January. It could be because of this deal the two parties share a good relationship.
Voetbal Krant, after relaying Het Nieuwsblad’s report, have provided additional updates on the west London club’s desire to sign Orban.
Also, reports have linked Manchester United to the Nigerian striker.
It goes without saying that Erik ten Hag will be prioritising a striker this summer. The manager will be looking for a prolific goalscorer who can make an immediate impact next season.
Belgian newspaper Nieuwsblad claims United sent scouts to watch Gent striker Orban this past weekend.
The Nigerian only signed for Gent in January for a mere £2m and a move to either side will definitely profit Gent in huge ramifications.
