Head coach of Remo Stars football club, Daniel Ogunbodede, says the driving force of his side’s impeccable run so far in the Nigeria Professional Football League this season is their painful experience in the CAF Confederation Cup preliminaries.
Remo Stars were knocked out in the first preliminary round of the second-tier continental club competition in September 2022, and the coach says the club had since turned their attention to the league.
In three matches already this season in the NPFL, Remo have amassed maximum points without conceding a goal, with an away win to show for it.
“We have tried to work hard for the past three, four months and the CAF experience is really an added advantage for us and that has been keeping us going,” Ogunbodede told our correspondent.
Ogunbodede expressed his satisfaction with the current form of his team while he hopes to improve on their performance in the final third.
He said, “The players are responding well to the approach. Nevertheless, we have to work more on certain areas which includes finishing, which we are working on tremendously.
“For me, the most important thing is the number of chances we create. If we create more, there is tendency to score more and if we don’t it’s the the other way.
“And the players also want to score but they miss some maybe out of anxiety and a lot of expectations on them but I’m working on them to be calm in front of goal, and hopefully we will be able to take all our chances.”
