Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface has resumed full training at Bayer Leverkusen following a three-month injury lay-off, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

The Nigerian striker on his X handle on Monday posted pictures of himself in training with teammates.

Boniface returned to light running duties last month in Leverkusen and was scheduled to make his comeback in April.

The 23-year-old is Bayer’s top scorer this season with 16 goals and eight assists in 23 games across all competitions.

His impressive performance earned him a place in Jose Peseiro’s team for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast but was ruled out because of the adductor injury he suffered.

Following his injury he had to undergo surgery that kept him out of action since January and the Nigeria international has frequently shared pictures of himself during physiotherapy sessions and the latest was his training session with teammates on Monday.

The striker has been outstanding for Bayer Leverkusen since he joined from Belgian club Royale Union SG last summer in a deal worth €20m plus add-ons and his return will serve as a significant boost for Xabi Alonso’s side in their Bundesliga title fight.

His performances for the club earned him Bundesliga Rookie of The Month awards for four straight months.
