Nigerian defender, Bruno Onyemachi, has admitted that joining Boavista last summer helped him develop into a better player, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
Onyemachi has been one of the revelations of the season for Boavista, following his instant success at the club, playing 31 appearances, scoring two goals and making two assists.
Speaking on his debut season at the club, the Super Eagles star said playing for the club further boosted his confidence.
“I am very grateful to Boavista for everything the club has done for me,” Onyemachi told the club website.
“I feel like I’m having a good time. I gained more experience and evolved in all aspects of my game. I am more confident and I believe this is reflected in the field.
“I really like the left defence position, I think that’s where I give up the most, but I will always be at the coach’s disposal to play in other positions.
“The truth is that this versatility is also an aspect that can benefit me, as well as the team. The truth is that the requirement of this club makes the players grow. We have all the conditions to focus only on the game and training, but we also feel that the requirement is daily on the part of everyone, which ends up helping us to be better. I am very happy to represent a club with such a great history.”
He also applauded the club fans for their support all through the season.
“The fans are fantastic, they are always by our side, they push us forward in every game, and everything we give on the field is for them. They are demanding, we feel it, and we see it as something very positive, but they also know how to recognise our effort and dedication even when the result is not the one we all wanted. They are with us in victories and defeats and that only makes us stronger.”
