Bassey brands FIFA 23 rating disrespectful

Ajax Nigerian defender Clavin Bassey could not believe he was only a silver card in FIFA 23 and suggested the rating was “disrespectful” to him.

The much-anticipated next edition of the game is due to be released in two weeks time, which means professional footballers will discover their ratings on the game.

For some players it does not matter, but for many that play FIFA 23, their EA Sports’ rating is a matter of pride as it will decide how good they are in the game.

Bassey would have been hoping for a decent upgrade to his base FIFA 22 rating of 65, which he did get, but it seems not enough.

The defender helped Glasgow Rangers reach the final of the Europa League last season, earning himself a move to Dutch giants Ajax.

This progress on the pitch saw his rating jump up to 74.

However, that means he is still labelled as a ‘silver’ player, with a rating of at least 75 needed to become a ‘gold’ player.

On Ajax’s YouTube channel, Bassey and his teammates Jurrien Timber, Brian Brobbey and Steven Bergwijn all reacted to each other’s ratings being unveiled.

Timber’s card was revealed first and Bassey claimed that his 80 rating was not high enough as he said, “FIFA is disrespecting my boy, I need more, FIFA.”

However, his frustrations were about to reach a new level as his card was shown to him and his teammates.

Before the card was fully shown, Bassey said, “If I see silver bro…” and mid-sentence, he could see that the card was indeed silver.

His reaction was hilarious for viewers as the Nigerian international stormed away from the table saying, “You see what I mean. Bro, that is just disrespectful.

“FIFA is a joke man, I told you. They need to get their minds right.”

Bassey has settled in well since moving to the Johan Cruyff Arena, playing seven times in all competitions and assisting two goals.
