Barcelona will look to sign 17-year-old Nigerian Ibrahim Oseni, who will join the club on a free transfer.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Ibrahim Afolabi Oseni is the subject of interest from Barcelona. The Catalan giants are competing with Villarreal for the Joy Cometh FC teenager. And the 17-year-old prospect will join his next club on a free transfer in the summer transfer window.
The Nigerian whizkid has already had trials at several Spanish and Ukrainian clubs. And he has also spoken about his experience of going through the tests at these teams. He said, “I’ve been to many clubs in Spain and Ukraine for trials and I’m back home for one reason or another. I’ll be back soon but while I’m in the country, I want to train with my childhood club.”
The report reveals Ibrahim Afolabi Oseni has trained with Levante UD, CD Leganes, CE Sabadell FC, and Dnipro. And the 17-year-old African wonderkid now has the opportunity to join Barcelona in the summer transfer window. The youngster will undergo trials at the Catalan club and Villarreal in the coming days.
He will travel to Spain for these tests, hoping to seal a free transfer after reaching an agreement with Joy Cometh FC to terminate his deal. Meanwhile, Oseni has also trained with the Barcelona Academy in Lagos. And he will now have the chance to represent La Masia if he joins the Catalan club.
The newly-crowned La Liga champions have a rich history of poaching prodigious prospects from Spain and beyond. And the latest whizkid to join La Masia is Mikayil Faye, with the Senegalese prodigy recently moving to Barcelona. Ibrahim Afolabi Oseni has now emerged as a viable target for Barcelona.
An attacking midfielder by trade, Oseni is known for his vision and ability to find teammates in pockets of space. In addition, the 17-year-old can play on either flank, making him an attractive target. Meanwhile, with Villarreal also handing him a trial, Barcelona will have to wait before securing his services.
Oseni’s next destination is seemingly a Spanish club as he waits for trials with Barcelona and Villarreal. And it will be interesting to see if the Blaugrana sign the 17-year-old African wonderkid to bolster the youth division this summer.
