According to a report by French newspaper L’Equipe, Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly interested in adding on-loan Reims striker Folarin Balogun to their summer shortlist, following the player’s impressive campaign in the French Ligue 1 this season.

Since moving to Stade de Reims in the summer of 2022, the 21-year-old has established himself as the best striker for his side.

The striker of Nigerian descent whose loan deal ends at the end of the 2022/23 season has enjoyed a brilliant run this season, scoring 18 goals in 31 league appearances for the Red and Whites.

The former Middlesbrough forward is the fourth top scorer in Ligue 1, two goals shy of PSG and France star Kylian Mbappe (22 goals).

The Parisians are looking for a forward who can replace Lionel Messi who is out of contract with the French giant in June 2023 and is linked to return to Barcelona in the summer.

“PSG are looking for an attacker. The situations of Mbappe, Neymar and Messi are making the Parisians run for cover.

“The Parisians are betting on Folarin Balogun. The 21-year-old striker, employed at the Stade Reims by Arsenal, is having a fantastic season: 18 goals and 3 assists. The market value of him is around 30 million euros.”

The youngster still has two years left on his contract with Arsenal but is not willing to return to Emirates Stadium next season unless he is guaranteed first-team play and Gunners manager Mikel Arteta has not assured Balogun of a starting role.

Arsenal are expected to demand a fee in a region above €30m for the striker.
