Newly-promoted La Liga side Almeria are already conceding to losing Nigeria striker, Umar Sadiq, and are already targeting Real Madrid forward Mariano Diaz as his possible replacement.

With just a week to the start of the 2022/23 La Liga season, the future of the Almería striker is up in the air as a host of clubs continue to show interest in the Nigerian.

Sadiq has grown to become one of the most important players at Almeria in the last two seasons, playing a major role as the Rojiblancos secured promotion to the top division as champions of the Segunda Division after eight years of asking.

The Super Eagles striker has registered 38 goals and 19 assists in 74 appearances for the Rojiblancos.

The 25-year-old’s impressive performance has drawn interest from several clubs in Europe, with Villarreal and Sevilla the most interested in the forward.

The striker was also recently linked with a move to Borussia Dortmund in Germany.

According to Ideal_granada, Almeria are already preparing for life without the Nigeria international and have entered a bid for the out of favour Madrid striker.

“Almería would have entered the bid for Mariano Díaz. The Spanish-Dominican forward for Real Madrid would be one of the options that the Almeria club is considering if Sadiq Umar ends up leaving.”

Diaz is currently valued at €6m as per transfermarkt, and he could be a good signing for Almeria considering his top-flight experience.
