Nottingham Forest striker, Emmanuel Dennis, has been called up to replace Henry Onyekuru in Nigeria’s squad for the friendly against Algeria after the latter sustained an injury in Adana Demirspor’s 3-0 victory over Antalyaspor on Saturday, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
The game is billed for the Miloud-Hadefi Olympic Stadium in Oran on September 27.
Onyekuru was subbed off at half-time due to a knock at Antalyaspor.
This comes after Valentine Ozornwafor had also replaced Leon Balogun in the squad.
Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro named a strong 25-man squad for the September 27 friendlyagainst the Foxes.
Dennis has had a poor start to the season at Forest, since his move from Watford, and has played only 11 minutes.
Peseiro called up uncapped Club Brugge midfielder Rapheal Onyedika for the clash, with Maduka Okoye, Kevin Akpoguma, Chidozie Awaziem, as well as forwards Kelechi Iheanacho, Taiwo Awoniyi and Chidera Ejuke recalled.
Midfielders Joe Aribo, and Oghenekaro Etebo miss out, while duo Victor Osimhen and Umar Sadiq are not involved because of injuries. Goalkeeper Francis Uzoho, defenders Kenneth Omeruo and Calvin Bassey, midfielders Wilfred Ndidi and Alex Iwobi, and forwards Moses Simon, Samuel Chukwueze and Cyriel Dessers made the list as well.
Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa and his deputy William Troost-Ekong are also included despite the duo seeing 208 and 97 minutes of action this season for their respective teams.
The invited players are expected to arrive at the Eagles camp in the city of Constantine on Monday, September 19.
The Eagles are aiming for their third win under Portuguese Peseiro, after victories over Sierra Leone and Sao Tome and Principe in June.
