Middlesbrough striker, Chuba Akpom, is expected to be out for four weeks due to a knee injury.
Akpom had a great start to the season after returning from the wilderness at Boro and capped that in the draw with Sheffield United by scoring twice in that game.
However, he had played through the pain barrier throughout much of the second half of that game, after twisting his knee in the first 45 minutes, and has been absent
since.
With Boro certainly feeling the effects of not having up top in their last two games, coach, Chris Wilder admitted that it was a blow for both the club and the player.
Wilder said, “You all understand I have to be a little bit coy at times with injuries, but Chuba is going to be out for four weeks, which is a huge blow for us, and a huge blow for him as well because of his performances this season. That’s four weeks from when the injury happens, so we’re thinking it will be closer to the international break.
“It’s a really disappointing one for both us and him,” Wilder continued.
“When he comes on against QPR he gave us that physical presence, throughout against Sheffield United he gave us that physical presence, and it’s something we’ve lacked.
“We lacked that at Reading and maybe that was why we played too intricate, too precise, too slow and too ponderous because we didn’t have that target to go into.
