According to a report by British media outlet Football Insider, Chelsea’s bid to sign Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen in the summer looks impossible over Financial Fair Play rules following Napoli’s valuation of over £133m for the player.

The Blues are shopping for a top striker in the summer and have placed the Nigerian as the club’s priority in the summer following his impressive run in the Serie A this season.

However, their hopes of landing the Nigerian prolific forward at Stamford Bridge look dim following Chelsea’s financial issues that have prevented the London club from spending over £133m to sign a player next summer.

Blues owner Todd Boehly has already spent over £600m in the last two transfer windows and the Blues have reached their spending limit in the summer by Financial Fair Play regulations which could make a deal for Osimhen financially difficult.

Chelsea will have to sell some players in the summer to raise the £133m price tag for Osimhen.

The 24-year-old Napoli star has enjoyed a fantastic campaign in Italy, scoring 26 goals, including five in the Champions League in 31 appearances across all competitions in the 2022/23 season.

The Parthenopeans sit top of the Serie A table with 14 points, thanks to Osimhen’s brilliant form as his effort is propelling the Naples to their first league title in over three decades with eight matches left.

The Nigeria international also leads the race for the Serie A Golden Boot with 21 goals.
