Nigerian striker Chuba Akpom is having quite the campaign at Middlesbrough as he continues to find the net and has just won his third player of the month award in the 2022/23 season.

Leeds – according to talkSPORT – are keen to sign the Englishman this summer, with Everton also hoping to lure the prolific striker away from Teeside.

Now, the Whites and the Toffees will surely be even more desperate to sign Akpom.

The Middlesbrough No.29 has just won his third Player of the Month award this season thanks to his stunning efforts throughout February.

Akpom has been named PFA Vertu Motors Fans’ Player of the Month for February after scoring five goals in five Championship outings throughout the month, which helped Boro record four wins.

The 27-year-old was also named PFA Vertu Motors Fans’ Player of the Month for November and January earlier this season.

Akpom has now impressively scored 24 goals across all competitions this season, with 23 coming in 30 Championship appearances, while he also has one goal in one FA Cup outing this term.

Although he missed being called up for the Eagles squad to face Guinea in the ongoing 2023 AFCON qualifiers, he is enjoying the best goalscoring campaign on his career, and it is no wonder Leeds and Everton are taking an interest in his ability.

Sean Dyche currently has one natural centre-forward to choose from in Ellis Simms, with the 22-year-old recalled from his loan spell at Sunderland in an emergency move.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has struggled badly with injuries, leaving Dyche with no option but to use Demarai Gray as a makeshift striker in the recent 1-0 win over Brentford.

Of course, Leeds could also do with a new striker, but Javi Gracia has more attacking options than Dyche in the form of Wilfried Gnonto, Patrick Bamford and Georginio Rutter.

Whether the Toffees avoid relegation or not, they simply have to sign a new striker this summer.
