Head coach of 3SC, Gbenga Ogunbote has appealed to the fans of the club for patience over their inconsistent run of form in the first stanza of the 2022/23 Nigeria Professional Football League season, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
The Oluyole Warriors were held to a 2-2 draw by visiting Akwa United on Sunday, a second consecutive draw at home which leaves them in 6th position in their group with 10 points from nine matches.
In contrast to their excellent run in pre-season, 3SC only won two games in the first stanza, and it has brought questions about the ambition of the club.
Ogunbote however explained that the squad has been hampered by injuries, limiting his options in certain areas of the field.
“I want to enjoin the fans not to lose confidence in us. Shooting Stars is their team and we are going to come back strongly. We implore them to show us more love in this trying period. We need them behind us to churn out good results. We are not happy too but that is football,”
“There is going to be a few additions into the team before the commencement of the second stanza. We have injury worries and lack of confidence amongst few players but that is not an excuse. We still have some time to make adjustments and we are going to go clinical in all departments to effect these changes. Also, we are going to harp on tactical discipline to change the fortune of the club,” Ogunbote assured.
Ogunbote and his players will have the chance to begin from where they stopped as their first game in the second stanza will be the return leg against Akwa United in Uyo.
