Nigeria Professional Football League side Kwara United have appointed former Wikki Tourists coach Kabir Dogo as the club’s handler following the departure of Abdulazeez Mohammed, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
Mohammed resigned after their 2-0 loss to Nasarawa United in Jos on Saturday, marking their fourth defeat of the season with only one win and two other draws in seven games.
“I have to step aside in view of the consistent run of poor results. The potentials are there for us to do well, but it’s unfortunate that things are going the wrong way,” Mohammed wrote in his letter to the club.
Dogo who takes over as the new handler of the team had also recently resigned as the head coach of Wikki Tourists following a poor run of form which saw the club winless in four games under him.
Chairman of the club, Kumbi Titiloye said the immediate replacement was necessary in order to avoid a vacuum in the team.
“We have accepted his resignation, as he has accepted full responsibility for the club’s poor run. We cannot continue like this, despite the commitment of the government, the management and stakeholders,” Titiloye noted in a club statement.
Mohammed was engaged on interim basis with 12 matches to end the last season before he was appointed on full terms at the end of the season.
Kwara United are placed 8th in their group with five points in seven games.
