With two wins out of two this season, there’s every reason for Bendel Insurance to feel fly about their ambition in the NPFL ahead of their match-day three duel against Kwara United in Ibadan.
The Benin Arsenal will be aiming to maintain their unbeaten run in the ongoing season when they take on Kwara United at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan on Sunday (today).
Insurance stunned former champions Akwa United 2-0 at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo before needing a last gasp winner to secure another win over Plateau United last Thursday at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City, Edo State.
On both occasions, two players were in the middle of the acts for Insurance; Imade Osarenkhoe and Sarki Ismael who both delivered the goals in the games.
Match winner against Plateau United in mid-week, Osarenkhoe talks up his partnership with Ismael ahead of their clash against the Harmony Boys who have drawn their last two games (home and away) at the venue.
“We have been partners for like two seasons now, so we know our weaknesses and strong points and that’s what we work on every time,” Osarenkhoe told PUNCH Sports Extra.
He however maintained that he is not desperate to rank among the top scorers this season, as long as his team continues to make headway.
“No pressure. I just want to keep helping the team win and we are hoping for a good game and a good result in Ibadan.”
While Bendel Insurance have notched four goals already, their opponents, Kwara United, who adopted the Lekan Salami in Ibadan as their home ground this season are yet to find the back of the net in two games. Their first two games have ended in frustrating goalless draws on the same ground, although the last one against their landlords, 3SC seems to be a desirable outcome.
Insurance are leading the pack of the dubbed ‘tough’ Group A with six points, while Kwara United are 6th with two points.
