Nigeria and Real Sociedad striker, Umar Sadiq, has begun the rehabilitation process for his long road to recovery, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
Sadiq was ruled out of the season with the dreadful injury after being forced off in the 38th minute of Real Sociedad’s 2-1 loss to Getafe in September.
The injury dashed Umar’s perfect start to life at Sociedad following a record €20 million with another potential €5 million in add-ons move from newly promoted side in La Liga, Almeria.
Real Sociedad confirmed the lanky striker had successful surgery in September, although they were uncertain about his recovery timeline as the injury takes six to nine months to heal.
“Sadiq underwent surgery this morning. The operation was successfully carried out with no issues,” the White and Blue tweeted back in September.
Three months on, the striker was pictured in the gym working his limbs as he goes through recovery, as shared by football agent, Mohammed Lawal.
“@RealSociedadEN, Striker Umar Sadiq getting there,” Lawal tweeted and added a thankful emoji to the post.
It however remains unclear if he will be fit before the projected end of the season.
Sadiq had announced himself to the Sociedad fans in emphatic fashion when he came off the bench to score the equaliser just 10 minutes after his introduction as they held Atletico Madrid to a 1-1 draw on matchday four of the 2022/23 LaLiga season.
He has already scored two goals for Almeria this season before making the switch.
