Reinstated Ghana head coach, Otto Addo, has named a strong squad consisting of Jordan and Andrew Ayew, Mohammed Kudus and Tariq Lamptey for the international friendly between Nigeria and the Black Stars on Friday, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
The friendly game scheduled for Marrakech, Morocco marks the beginning of a new era for the Eagles, who are without former coach Jose Peseiro, as well as the Black Stars, who announced Addo as their head coach following the sacking of Chris Hughton in January.
Addo, who stepped down following the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, where Ghana finished bottom of Group H with one win from three matches, will face Nigeria in his first game since returning as the Black Stars coach and will hope to get one over their archrivals.
Captain Ayew and his brother Jordan, Kudus, Osman Bukari, Samed Abdul Samed, and Elisha Owusu have been named in the squad.
The 48-year-old has also invited Bolivia-based David Akologo, Nordsjaellands Ibrahim Osman, France-based Nathaniel Adjei, and Diomande Mohammed of Rangers of Scotland in Ghana’s 27-man squad.
However, Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has been omitted from the squad at his own request as he builds his fitness back up, following a severe thigh injury.
The former Atletico Madrid man spent over four months in the medical bay with the issue, which was described by former Black Stars boss Hughton as the most severe he had ever suffered in his career.
