Cyriel Dessers again showed his growing importance to Glasgow Rangers as he scored the only goal in their narrow 1-0 win over St Mirren on Saturday, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
The crucial strike took his tally to the season to 12 in 33 games across all competition and keeps the Light Blues in pursuit of league leaders Celtic.
The 29-year-old striker was not initially a popular figure among the Rangers fans in his early months at Ibrox following his summer move from Cremonese.
However, he has slowly worked his way into the supporters’ good books, especially since the arrival of boss Philippe Clement in October, and he pounced after 14 minutes of the cinch Premiership game in Paisley to score for a third successive match.
In Spain, Umar Sadiq played for 62 minute and failed to score for Real Sociedad who were held to a goalless draw at home to Rayo Vallecano on Saturday.
He is on a six game goal drought.
Sadiq was substituted for Mikel Oyarzabal in the encounter which was his 18th league game of the season. He has scored twice and made on assist so far this term.
At the Gewiss stadium in Italy, Nigerian goalkeeper, Maduka Okoye, conceded two first half goals in action for Udinese as the slumped to a 2-0 defeat away at Atalanta on Saturday.
Okoye who was making his fifth straight Serie A start was beaten in the 33rd minute by Aleksei Miranchuk and Gianluca Scamacca in additional time of the first half.
He has now conceded nine goals in five league games keeping only one clean sheet.
The Nigerian goalie made seven saves from shots from inside the penalty area. He also played eight successful long balls.
His compatriot, Kingsley Ehizibue came on for Festy Ebosele at the start of the second half while Isaac Success was an unused substitute in the defeat.
