Daniel, the goalkeeper son of former Super Eagles goalkeeper, Dele Aiyenugba, came out victorious in a touted father and son clash when his team, Beyond Limits Football Academy, dared Kwara United in one of the semi-finals of a pre-season tournament in Ikenne on Tuesday, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
Both father and son saved one penalty each as the academy boys defeated Kwara United 4-3 on penalties after regulation time ended 2-2.
The NPFL side raced to a two-goal lead inside 10 minutes but Beyond Limits found their way back into the game from the penalty spot before halftime and also made it 2-2 at the death, courtesy of a goal from Shina Ayodele.
Daniel saved Kwara United’s second spot kick during the shootout just as his father saved Beyond Limit’s third kick, but the academy boys were more clinical, scoring the rest of their kicks while the NPFL side missed one more.
Beyond Limits will play 3SC in the final of the tournament on Thursday.
They will hope to avenge the loss of their senior side, Remo Stars, who were beaten 3-0 by 3SC in the second semi-final.
