Correction Boys shocked Safety Shooters 21-20 in one the games played on Sunday at the Ardova Handball Premier League in Benin City, the Edo State capital.

The high-flying Shooters, who are former champions, were favoured to win the game but suffered defeat in the hands of the Correction Boys, who had only one win before Sunday’s game, but did everything right in a game few people gave them the chance to win.

They were solid in defence and made good use of the scoring chances that came their way, while they also had the wayward finishing of the Shooters to thank for the famous win.

In the women’s category, Bayelsa Queens were the outstanding team on Sunday as they defeated Benue Queens 29-20. The Yenagoa team were more confident in the game and their approach different from their other games.

They were good in defence and the players performed more like a unit to win their second game in a row, after suffering five defeats.

In other games in the men’s category, Tojemarine Academy beat Bendel Dynamos 33-19, Confluence Stars lost to Rima Strikers 25-21 and Niger United defeated Police Machine 31-16.

In the women’s league, Plateau Peacocks fell to Rima Queens 23-17, Delta Queens lost to Defender Babes 19-26 and Safety Babes pummelled Seasider Babes 42-29.
