Former Nigeria Professional Football League champions, Kano Pillars, got their Nigeria National League Super 8 playoffs campaign off to a winning start with a 1-0 win over EFCC FC on Sunday morning in Asaba.

Williams Sunday scored the only goal of the game to secure maximum points for Pillars, as they look to regain promotion back to the topflight after being relegated last season.

The Sai Masu Gida are second on the Northern Conference table, sitting behind rivals Katsina United on goals difference, after the Chanji Boys also got their promotion bid off to a winning start with a 2-1 victory over DMD FC.

Sporting Lagos are in early advantage in the Southern Conference, thanks to a slim 1-0 win over FC One Rocket in the third game of the day.

They lead the group conformably with three points, after Stormers FC and Heartland played out a goalless draw in the last game of the day.

Pillars, Katsina United and Sporting Lagos will hope to make it two wins on the bounce and boost their chances of getting the NPFL ticket as actions continue in Asaba on Monday (today).

Sporting Lagos will take on FC One Rocket in the first game of the day before Stormers and Heartland will search for their first wins when they face off in the second game.

EFCC FC will trade tackles with Katsina United by 2pm while Kano Pillars will face DMD in the last game of the day.

The top two teams from each group will gain promotion to the NPFL, which is scheduled to start next month.
