In statistics published by data and analytics company, StatsBomb, Everton midfielder Alex Iwobi and Nottingham Forest’s Morgan Gibbs-White are joint top players who are most proficient at threading the ball through an opponent’s legs in the recently concluded 2022/23 Premier League season, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
Iwobi was a key player for the Toffees last season as they, for the second time in two seasons, battled hard to survive relegation.
The Nigerian featured in all 38 Premier League games for Everton last season, scoring two goals and providing eight assists.
In the publication by StatsBomb, Iwobi inflicted eight nutmegs on other players, the same number as Gibbs-White.
Meanwhile, Brentford’s Mathias Jensen, Joao Felix, Manchester United duo Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford all put the ball through their opponents’ legs on seven occasions.
Joao Cancelo, who was loaned out to Bayern Munich in January, was successful on six occasions.
Meanwhile, Newcastle’s Dan Burn tops the list of those who’ve been on the wrong end of one of football’s most simple but humiliating acts.
The defender was nutmegged eight times, the highest received by a player in the EPL in the just-concluded season.
Midfielder Pascal Gross is second on the list as he was on the receiving end on six occasions.
Leicester’s Youri Tielemans and Bournemouth’s Lewis Cook are next with five nutmegs.
