Super Eagles midfielder Frank Onyeka has named English Premier League champions, Manchester City, and the first runners-up, Arsenal, the two toughest clubs he has faced since moving to England.

The midfielder joined the then newly promoted Brentford from Danish side, FC Midtjylland, on a five-year contract for an undisclosed fee two summers ago.

Despite some struggles with injuries that have limited his playing times, the 25-year-old has proven to be a consistent performer when called upon and has made himself an integral part of Frank Thomas’ side.

The 25-year-old midfielder has had spells when he struggled to get playtime, but he has proven to be a consistent performer.

In his two seasons in the Premier League, the Nigeria international has made 41 appearances for the Bees, who have proven their worth in the topflight league.

Onyeka, who was the club’s first signing after gaining promotion to the EPL in 2021, helped the club finish in 13th position in their maiden season.

In the just 2022/23 season, the West London club finished in 9th position and surprisingly, they were the only side to beat Pep Guardiola’s side both home and away.

In an interview with Brila FM, the midfielder named the Cityzens and the Gunners the two toughest sides he had faced in England.

“It’s the Premier League, every team is hard to play against, but Arsenal and Manchester City, in particular, are the toughest teams; they make you run all through,” Onyeka told Brila FM.

“The Premier League is different in a lot of ways from the Danish League. English football is fast, the pitch and the players are better and stronger.

“But, don’t get me wrong. The Danish league is also good, strong, and physical.”

Onyeka was part of the FC Midtjylland side that won the Superliga in 2017/18, playing 15 games. He helped them win the title again in 2019/20 and the Danish Cup in 2019. He played in the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Europa League for Midtjylland, and leaves Denmark having made 123 appearances with 17 goals.
