Onyedika, Boniface clash in Belgian championship playoff

The duo of Nigeria internationals Repheal Onyedika and Victor Boniface will face off as Club Brugge host Royal Union Saint-Gilloise at the Jan Breydel Stadium on Saturday in the 2022/23 Jupiler Pro League Championship playoff.

The Super Eagles midfielder has featured in 26 league matches for Brugge in the Belgian Pro League since joining from Midtjylland last summer.

The 22-year-old defensive midfielder has been impressive for his Belgian outfit and has powered his side to fourth place on the table with 59 points from 34 matches and pushing hard for a champions league spot next season.

The Blauw-Zwart are fourth in the Championship playoffs table with 30 points.

Also, compatriot and Union St. Gilloise prolific forward who has been in fine form for his Belgian side and has registered seven goals with seven assists in 31 league appearances will be hoping his side leaves the Jan Breydel Stadium

The sensational striker has netted 20 goals and ten assists in 50 matches for Union 60 across all competitions this season.
Union 60 have enjoyed a strong league season and are in the thick of a title race at the moment.

They were beaten 2-0 by in-form Royal Antwerp on Wednesday, finding themselves two goals down at the half-hour mark and failing to find a way back into the game.

The visitors sit third in the Championship playoffs table with 38 points. They will be looking to shake off their latest result and return to winning ways when they play at the weekend.

According to stats Blue-Black have won five with three draws in their eight meetings against Les Unionistes Union 60.
