The annual Delta State Headmasters Cup football competition starts on Thursday (today) in Asaba, the Delta State capital.
The catch-them-young tournament sponsored by Zenith Bank is organised for primary schools pupils in Delta State.
Group Managing Director, Zenith Bank, Ebenezer Onyeagwu, said the bank was always committed to youth development.
“The Delta State Headmasters Cup is one of the events we deliberately designed to develop talents from the grassroots. We want to give them the opportunity to attain their potential with their talents,” Onyeagwu said.
Commissioner for Primary Education, Delta State, Sunday Onoriode, said on Wednesday that arrangements had been made to stage a good tournament.
Today’s kick-off, slated for St Patrick’s College, Asaba is between Abu-Ato Primary School 1 Asaba and Ezemese Primary School, Ibusa at 11am.
The Delta State Ministry of Sports Public Relations Officer Magnus Emuji said the zonal preliminaries would start on Monday in various centres.
