Shooting Stars of Ibadan are confident striker, Sikiru Alimi, will return to action before the start of the second half of the season.
Alimi joined the Oluyole Warriors for a second stint last season but is yet to kick a ball this term after sustaining an injury in training.
The former Remo Stars striker was signed before the start of the season alongside his younger brother, Adebayo, a defender who made his debut for the club against Enyimba on Wednesday in Aba.
General manager of 3SC, Dimeji Lawal, stated that Alimi had stepped up his recovery and would return to action soon.
“Sikiru is back in training, we hope he will be available for the second phase of the league,” Lawal said.
“His return will give us more options in attack, as we have other quality strikers in the team.
”He is a big player and we know what he can bring to the table. If we can get him back on his feet, then our attack will be stronger,” he added.
With one game left in the first half of the season, 3SC campaign have fallen short of expectations after an impressive pre-season where they won the NPFL-Dozy Mmobousi tournament.
In eight games, the Oluyole Warriors have only managed nine points, winning just two of their matches, which came at home against El-Kanemi Warriors and struggling Nasarawa United.
Shooting Stars lost 2-0 to Enyimba in their match-day eight encounter in Aba on Wednesday; the Ibadan club will host Akwa United in their last game of the first stanza on Sunday.
